In traveling, we left the comfort of our home to explore the world, experience new things and go on full adventure mode! But at the end of the day, we all want to relax and recharge in a place we can call home for a few days. Are you always in charge of booking your staycation cabin? Are you an Airbnb or a hotel person? Here are the advantages and disadvantages of these top staycation places!
Price
The price of the staycation is one of the major concerns before traveling. Tourists wanted to make sure that they are paying for what they wanted. Even if we are just going to stay in a place for a few days, we all the expectations that it could provide us a home and place to relax with ease. When it comes to price, Airbnb is much cheaper because, unlike hotels, it has no overhead costs such as the whole management. For big group travelers, these rentals are advisable. Most rentals are group travel-friendly and a lot of choices could meet your budget price. You will be surprised that sometimes, your hotel stay shares the same price as the rentals.
But for solo travelers, it is better to book a hotel because you didn't need a whole house to rest. It is also more convenient for you to stay in a hotel for solo trips.
Location
We cannot deny that despite the rise of Airbnb over the past few years, there are still more hotels in most places. During peak season, it is difficult to book either of the two. Some people prefer hotels while some prefer a good mix of both. Not all places offer hotels just like not many staycations present our Airbnb. In most cases, hotels are also too far from tourist spots especially if you have hiking plans or anything involving the exploration of nature.
If you prefer being close to the city, and enjoying the centralized commercialism and the nightlife urban vibes, hotels are perfect for you. But if you prefer blending with nature and the local community, find an Airbnb far from the city life.
Hosts
Good customer service matters on literally everything. Since we are staying in a certain place for days, we wanted to feel welcome. The way how hospitality was shown to guests highlights the best trips. Since we are staying in that place longers than any other place we visit during travel, the people we will meet and encounter stay in our minds. First impressions last. The treatment from the first day will be carried on throughout the trip and will be remembered after the whole.
This is how and why the host engagement matters. Staying in hotels usually only allows you to meet the receptionist and the room service. For Airbnb, you are eventually going to meet the owner of the house you are staying in.
Some feel the pressure of meeting the owner of the house but some prefer it because of the hospitality they are yearning for the effort of meeting. In addition, there are also self-check-in services for some Airbnb. All hotels and Airbnb has different way of guest engagement but if you prefer one-call away hosts, you can go to hotels. Sometimes Airbnb owners live far from their rentals.
Space
Airbnb allows you to enjoy an at-home-like experience every time you go back from a long trip. You own the whole house for the period of your stay. You can make your food in a kitchen, not just a small pantry. You can bring your whole family or group and still feel comfortable and enjoy it all together because you're all staying in the same house. On the other hand in hotels, it offers a lot of recreational places. You can also interact with other tourists. You can just order your food and it will be delivered to your room.
You do not need to worry much about what to do if you prefer to stay in hotels only. If you have cancer, the customer service is always one call away, like literally. All hotels also follow the standard size for several people. You can still stay together in one room as a group but it wouldn't be comfortable and you won't probably have private time for yourself since you are sharing rooms. Both have their pros and cons but if you want an individual space, it is either you book your room or you all rent an Airbnb with a lot of rooms to choose from.
Choosing a place to stay in one of the difficult tasks in traveling with a group of people. First, you wanted to make sure that everyone is comfortable before anything else. The price also matters because you wouldn't want to charge more than you planned on vacation especially if you are only staying at a place for a night or two. Whenever we travel, we also made sure that our staycation is close to wherever we are planning to have a trip. If you are hiking with your family, it will be difficult for the kids and elders to travel a long trip before laying on their hotel beds. Understanding the pros and cons of where we are staying is always overlooked. But this is the first thing you should do. To find a place that will still make you feel at home.
